Welcome

The Piedmont Triad Airport Authority (PTAA) is committed to being a good neighbor and a responsible operator of the Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTIA). Before the airport's new runway opened, the Airport Authority undertook an Airport Noise Compatibility Study, also called a PART 150 Study. A PART 150 Study is a federally funded and supervised program that seeks to reduce the impacts of airport operations on neighborhoods surrounding the airport.

During development of the PART 150 Study, the PTAA partnered with residents, airport users, local government agencies, elected officials and the Federal Aviation Administration to develop its noise control  program.

The airport's Noise Compatibility Program was approved by the FAA in November 2008 (full document). Since that time, the airport has been moving forward with implementation of the measures outlined in that program. This website is designed to provide information about the implementation of the Noise Compatibility Program and to keep the community updated on the program's progress.
